Project summary

Whitestones Solar Limited have submitted a planning application for a 9.9MW solar farm on farmland for a period of 40 years at Land at Whitestones, Cumniestown, Aberdeenshire.

The proposed development will:

  • Generate approximately 11GWh clean renewable electricity from solar irradiation every year.
  • Comprise circa 20,000 to 21,000 solar panels mounted on racks and arranged in rows with gaps to ensure limited shading covering approximately 33 acres including associated substation infrastructure.
  • The planning consent would be requested for a 40-year period.
  • On reaching the end of its operational life, the proposed solar development will be decommissioned, and the site restored.
