Our in-house ecology and ornithology specialists provide environmental support services to renewable energy developments across the UK.
Our team has extensive experience in designing and delivering ecology and ornithology programmes for onshore wind, solar and BESS projects across all stages of the development lifecycle. From initial site feasibility and baseline data collection through to Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), consenting support, discharge of planning conditions and post-consent monitoring.

Survey & project management
From initial survey design through to project completion, we provide project management to coordinate ecological and ornithological surveys, stakeholders, and regulatory requirements.

Ecological assessment
Our in-house team offers a broad range of ecology support that includes habitat surveys (UK HAB, Phase 1 Habitat Surveys, National Vegetation Classification Surveys), protected species surveys and licencing (including static bat monitoring and eDNA testing for Great Crested Newts), and reporting (Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, Ecological Impact Assessments, Biodiversity Net Gain and condition assessments).

Ornithological assessment
Locogen provides expert ornithology support, from designing appropriate baseline surveys to assessing potential impacts on bird populations and their habitats. We deliver clear, proportionate assessments and practical mitigation strategies to support planning applications and regulatory compliance.

Post-consent support
In addition to supporting planning applications, our ecology and ornithology technical experts can provide post-consent ecological support to help discharge planning conditions and ensure compliance during construction. Our services might include Species Protection Plans, Habitat Management Plans, and pre-construction surveys.
