Locogen Consultancy has provided planning works to Rossendale Valley Energy, a community owned renewable energy group based in Lancashire. The planning works included the drafting and submission of a Pre-Application Consultation Request Report, Environmental Impact Assessment Screening Opinion Request and full planning application to Rossendale Borough Council, for the Paragon Works Solar Farm Development. The Paragon Works Solar Farm Development includes solar photovoltaic arrays, a private wire cable, and associated infrastructure on land adjacent to the Paragon Works Chemical Manufacturing Site in Rising Bridge, near Accrington.
The solar farm development will have a maximum generating capacity of 750kWp AC, and will supply approximately 25% of the annual energy needs of the Paragon Works Site, equating to approximately 570MWh. The remaining electricity will be exported onto the local distribution network to help support local energy demands.
The additional revenue resulting from the solar farm will allow Rossendale Valley Energy to provide increased funding for their Net Zero Terrace Street Project and other community activities. Rossendale Valley Energy aims to directly improve the living standards of local residents by reducing the cost of heating homes through their activities. Their projects supports the retrofitting of thermally inefficient residential homes within the Rossendale Borough with home insulation and other energy and home heating efficiency measures.
