Locogen won the Business Growth Award at the 2015 Scottish Green Energy Awards. Locogen won the award as a result of their unprecedented growth over the last couple of years alongside their successful diversification into other technologies.
Having started out in 2009 as primarily a medium-scale wind energy developer, Locogen now employs 25 people and are market leaders in wind, solar, hydro, anaerobic digestion, energy storage and voltage optimisation technologies. Their consultancy and installation teams take all projects from inception right the way through the development and construction phases, and now provide comprehensive asset management and O&M services to oversee the efficient operation of projects. Locogen work for a range of public, private, commercial, manufacturing, agricultural and community sector clients. The growth of the company has created the requirement for several technical roles at their head office in Edinburgh, offices are now open in York and Cardiff, and a number of wind and solar developments are now underway in France.
Andrew Lyle, Managing Director of the company, described winning the award. He said:
“We were up against some incredibly successful companies so to be announced as the winner was fantastic. We’ve worked incredibly hard as an organisation to achieve sustainable growth in the light of such a rapidly changing industry, and being able to achieve this and being recognised for it in December’s awards ceremony is a real credit to the team and the organisations who have supported us as a young growing company over the last few years. I’m so grateful for all the support and the hard work. Although the renewables industry looks likely to remain in a state of flux into 2017, we have some exciting expansion plans which we are implementing now; winning the award has boosted both our confidence as an organisation and Locogen’s brand recognition within the sector, both of which will help us achieve our goals over the next 12-24 months”.
