Locogen reaches an important milestone for two solar development sites in Scotland

Locogen is delighted to have secured two CfD contracts for solar developments through the UK’s latest Allocation Round 7, totalling 55MW.

The sites are both located in Scotland, demonstrating that solar developments north of the border can be competitive, and will deliver a tangible contribution to both Scotland and UK’s net zero targets.

The Loch Fergus site in South Ayrshire is a 45MW solar project co-located with 40MW of BESS, which have been developed with Locogen’s partner Aukera Energy. Mid Whitestones is a 9.9MW solar project developed by Locogen in Aberdeenshire. Both projects are planned to connect in 2027 and we are excited to take these into the construction phase and see them become operational in the near future.

In addition, it is fantastic to see that so many of our clients’ projects have also secured CfDs in AR7. We look forward to providing continued support for these wind and solar projects through to construction and eventual operation.

The onshore AR7 announcements are a great result for the renewable industry as a whole, with competitive pricing that should present a long-term saving for consumers, relative to wholesale electricity costs. This important milestone will also serve as strong encouragement for those developing onshore projects in the UK who are looking to future CfD rounds.
