Locogen Joins Kickstart Scheme

As Locogen continues to grow, we recognise that playing our part in an inclusive, green recovery means creating opportunities for all, not just experienced consultants and excellent graduates.

That’s why we’re proud to be backing the Kickstart Scheme – a £2billion government fund aiming to create hundreds of thousands of high-quality job placements for young people (aged 16-24) who are in receipt of Universal Credit.

The standard placements last for 6 months at 25 hours a week paid at minimum wage.

But to ensure our Kickstart placements get the most from their time with us we are boosting the working week to a full-time 37.5 hours And because Locogen are a proud living wage employer, we will pay minimum / living wage according to age.

As part of their placements, our Kickstart candidates will receive employability training provided by West Lothian College. This will take the form of 12 3-hour sessions over the six month period, covering topics such as ICT skills, CV building and interviewing, and workplace skills.

Kickstart positions available

The Kickstart positions we are currently recruiting for are:

  • Asset Management Assistant
  • Facilities Assistant
  • Finance Administration Assistant

Candidates for these positions must be referred to us by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). They do this by asking their local jobcentre to be referred to us. We will then receive a reference number for that candidate and they can then apply directly to us.

The COVID crisis has impacted everyone. But a particular concern is the number of young people who have left school or college just to see their careers stalled before they have a chance to get on the career ladder.

The Kickstart scheme is one way to address this and we’re determined to do our bit by providing a very high quality working experience to help build a career foundation for these young people.

Young people can find out more about the Kickstart scheme here and there is information for employers who might be interested in joining the scheme here. If you’re interested in joining Locogen, find out more about us here.
