Locogen have just commissioned their latest renewable energy development, a wind turbine at Cantlayhills near Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire.
In late 2015 Locogen was approached by a landowner looking for a renewable energy developer to take forward a wind energy project on their land. During the course of this development the UK renewables market has gone through considerable change, but Locogen identified the Cantlayhills site as a location with a strong wind resource and good technical and planning potential, ensuring that the project remains financially viable under the significantly reduced Feed-in Tariff scheme.
The wind turbine will generate approximately 2,350MWh of electricity per year.
The project was developed as a joint venture between Locogen and a local farmer. The joint venture partner said “Locogen have installed a 500kW wind turbine and a 50kWp solar PV system at my farms in recent years and they have always provided a high level of service. I am delighted to be a development partner with them on the Cantlayhills project”.
