The 500kW Enercon E48 turbine was installed near Huntly, Aberdeenshire in October, with final commissioning completed on Thursday 24th November.
Greenmyres Renewable Energy Ltd, part of the Huntly & District Development Trust, appointed Locogen to secure a non-material variation for the project, and then to subsequently Project Manage the installation of the turbine. The Trust plans to offer people the opportunity to invest in the project through a community share offer which they will be launching in Spring 2017. This will bring the financial benefits of the project directly to the local community. After the repayment of loans, the project is expected to return £2.5m over its lifetime, with all the profits being retained in the local community once the share offer is completed.
After successfully managing the installation, the project’s ongoing management has been handed over to Locogen’s Asset Management Team, who are now managing the operation of the project for Greenmyres Renewables Energy Ltd.
