Renewables is what we do at Locogen. And it’s all we do.
We are over 60 multi-disciplinary experts, working across the UK, providing end-to-end development services to our clients.
Since 2009, we’ve been supporting our clients to design, develop, build and operate renewables projects. We also work on innovations that push forward the possibilities of renewable energy. Our expertise and relationship-based approach is the reason clients trust our advice and capabilities.
From our Edinburgh base, we operate across the UK, working exclusively on onshore wind, ground-mounted solar, energy storage and green hydrogen projects.

2024
We provided multiple services to support our client to construct and commission the largest shared ownership wind farm in the Scotland. We also supported our clients and partners to secure CfDs for over 300MWp of projects in AR6.
2023
Secured planning consent for Scotland’s largest solar farm and co-located battery energy storage project along with securing consent for a further 100MWp of solar projects across the UK. We also supported Greater Manchester Council with the construction of their large-scale ground mounted solar projects
2022
We supported our client to build the UK’s largest refurbished wind farm and supported Orkney Island Council in developing three wind farms, crucial for securing investment in the new Orkney interconnector to support future renewable projects. We also secured Scottish Government funding for four green hydrogen projects and obtained planning consent for the Arbikie green hydrogen facility.
2021
We expand our Planning & Environmental and Engineering & Construction teams due to growth in the UK onshore wind and solar markets. Secured DESNZ funding for a longer duration energy storage co-located with solar PV feasibility project. and awarded £3 million grant funding for the Arbikie green hydrogen project, in partnership with Arbikie Distillery and Logan Energy.
2019
A climate emergency in 2019 and policy changed overnight to enable renewable growth. We shifted our focus onto large scale onshore wind, ground mounted solar and decarbonisation projects for businesses through onsite renewable generation.
2016
The FIT scheme was closed down. We expanded internationally, opening our first office in France and explored alternative opportunities in the UK.
2015
Winner Scottish Green Energy Award for Best Community Engagement Award for the Ben Mor shared ownership community hydro scheme.
2013
Winner of the Green Energy Award for Business Growth.
2012
Established Locogen’s Asset Management team and expanded our services to include solar PV and hydro power.
2011
Secured planning consents for our first wind projects for agricultural and community clients and established our engineering and construction services.
2009
Founder Andrew Lyle launched the company in 2009, initially to focus on the development, construction and operation of community scale wind projects under the Feed-In-Tariff regime.
