kirkliston Social Housing
Locogen supplied and installed roof-mounted solar PV and battery storage technology on existing social housing in Kirkliston, Edinburgh for The City of Edinburgh Council.

Myrtle Grange Farm
Locogen installed a solar PV system at Myrtle Grange Farm, a mixed livestock and arable farm near Hensall in North Yorkshire. With grain drying and cold storage resulting in high energy usage, Chris Platt, the farm’s owner, was keen to find a way to reduce both his bills and the farm’s environmental impact. Having studied the electricity usage at Myrtle Grange and completed a financial appraisal of the scheme, Locogen designed an installation to match the farm’s electricity requirements and optimise the return on investment.
JJ Food Service
JJ Food Service Limited are an established food wholesaler, supplying restaurants, pubs, hotels, schools, universities, local authorities and the general public with a range of fresh, chilled, ambient and frozen products. The company approached Locogen to provide options for renewable energy across their sites. Roof-mounted solar offered the best potential across the company’s property portfolio, and Locogen were appointed to design, secure consent for, install and commission two 250kWp system for the wholesaler.
Auchrennie Farm
Auchrennie Farm, near Carnoustie, has been growing soft fruit for over 50 years along with potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, barley and wheat. The Gray family were keen to invest in solar energy at the site to reduce their carbon impact and offset the large electricity costs from their cold storage and processing operations.
Newlands Farm
Newlands Farm, near Selby in North Yorkshire, is a large arable farm producing fresh vegetables and cereals. The farm is owned and operated by William Platt, who was keen to install roof-mounted solar to reduce the farm’s carbon impact and offset the large electricity costs from their cold storage and grain drying facilities.
Ingliston Country Club
Locogen were approached by Ingliston Country Club, who required expert advice on the best renewable energy solution to reduce their carbon footprint and provide a solid financial investment for the club. Locogen’s assessments pointed to a 120kWp solar PV installation. Locogen then provided a complete consultancy service to the club and oversaw the project from start to finish.
Kirkton of Monikie
Kirkton of Monikie is a large arable farm in Angus, producing potatoes and cereals for the food and drinks industry. The Fairlie family, having previously employed Locogen to install an EWT 500kW wind turbine on their farm, were keen to take advantage of solar PV technology to further reduce their energy consumption and safeguard against future electricity price rises.
Solar Farm
Having secured planning consent for the site, the developer appointed Locogen to complete Asset Management services for the project during its operational stage. Since the EPC contractor’s warranty ended in 2015, Locogen have also been completing full O&M services for the site.
Prestige Leisure
Prestige Leisure supply branded clothing to printers and embroiderers for use in the leisurewear and workwear sectors. They contacted Locogen to carry out a detailed survey to analyse their energy use. The result was a 250kWp solar PV system as the best option.
West Balmirmer Farm
West Balmirmer, owned and operated by the Fairlie family, is a mixed arable and livestock farm near Arbroath. With renewable energy installations at their other farms, the Fairlies were keen to invest in a suitable technology at West Balmirmer to further reduce the carbon impact of the business and cut their electricity spend at the site. After Locogen had installed and commissioned a 500kW wind turbine for the Fairlies at Pickerton Farm, and achieved planning consent for a similar turbine at Stotfaulds Farm, the family approached Locogen to advise on the most suitable technology at West Balmirmer.
M&Co (Mackays Stores Ltd)
The M&Co clothing chain is an established high street retailer with more than 300 outlets across the UK. Their substantial instore electricity use meant that reducing their energy bills and becoming more self-sufficient in electricity production was a high priority. From an initial list of almost 200 sites, Locogen carried out feasibility studies to determine which stores were best suited to solar PV. To date Locogen has installed around 800kWp of solar PV for M&Co across 10 sites. The largest system is a 460kWp installation on the company’s head office at Inchinnan, Glasgow.
